Nightmares & Daydreams

Type : Title Sequence

Client : Netflix

Production Studio: ARAS

Role : Creative Director

Year : 2023

This is an opening sequences I directed for Nightmares and Daydreams, a Netflix original anthology series from Come and See Pictures.

Each episode offers a unique narrative, and I approached each scene as its own standalone piece — visually interpreting the essence of the story it precedes. From surreal dreams to eerie fears, every scene carries a treatment tailored to the emotional and thematic tone of the episode.

This was a playground of moods — and every episode gave me a new one to explore.

Scene Breakdown

The Keyhole of Choices

Seven keys, one keyhole. Each key unlocks a different story, depending on who holds it. The keyhole is the gateway to various narratives within one interconnected universe.

The Hallway of Secrets

A long hallway with doors leading to upcoming episodes. Brief glimpses of various objects hint at what’s to come—like a hypnotizing TV, a flying book, a rattling typewriter, a lonely wheelchair, and a bloodstained butcher room. Each item is a window into future nightmares: hypnosis, poetry, monsters, and the horrors that will come.

The Old House in the Forest

Deep in the forest, an old house with a vintage lift leading to an asylum. The large, outdated lift indicator adds a surreal touch. Eyes hidden in the trees watch every move, reminding us of the silent gossip surrounding those who are locked away.

The Web of Greed

A giant spider in the center, symbolizing the magical child who brings wealth but also death to those who adopt them. Gems in the web represent the allure of riches, while two dead rats symbolize parents blinded by the promise of wealth.

The Soul Harvest

Inside a cave, a baby cradle rests. A monster stealing the soul of the young to extend the lives of the elderly in the asylum. Youth is sacrificed to keep them forever young.

Banquet of the Damned

A long table covered in human organs, representing those who came for interviews but were instead mutilated. A cup pours blood, symbolizing how the workers here feed off the lives of the murdered.

Dust of Lost Hours

In the desert, a giant clock stands, signifying the ability to travel through time. Five doors lead to realms filled with symbols of death and impermanence—candles, flowers of death, and clouds that represent a journey through time.

The Dreamgate

A massive eye at the center, with seven ships sailing through the sea within it. This eye is the gateway between the waking world and the dream world, where nightmares and daydreams blend into one.
